The issuance of ICO green bonds, awarded in the Global Capital magazine's Sustainable and Responsible Capital Markets Awards 2019

26 septiembre 2019

The international magazine Global Capital, a publication specialised in the analysis of financial markets, has awarded the ICO for its first green bond issue launched in April 2019, the third prize in the EMEA Green/SRI Bond Deal of the Year category.

These prizes, awarded by Global Capital, are based on a comprehensive survey of banks, investors, issuers and other financial intermediaries. These prizes award in their different categories, the operations with the greatest impact, for their innovation, their capacity to attract investments or their social repercussion.

ICO's first green bond issue, amounting to 500 million euros, was launched last April and had a demand of more than 3,400 million euros. The funds are used to finance projects that contribute to protecting the environment and the fight against climate change. 84% of the issue was acquired by international investors.

With this award, Global Capital highlights the relevance of the Institute as one of the benchmark issuers in the sector of sustainable bonds in the European market, since prior to this green bond issue, ICO launched five social bond issues amounting to more than 2,550 million euros.

This is the third time that Global Capital has honoured ICO with an award. It previously received the award for the best MTN issue by a financial or supranational agency (2017) and the award for the best social bond (2016).
