- The agreement fosters the financing of sustainable projects in line with the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan
Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) and Sabadell Mexico have signed a new collaboration agreement within the framework of the ICO International Channel Line. This is the fourth such agreement reached between the two entities in the last six years.
With an amount of 70 million dollars, the new financing will enable the continuity of this relationship and provide economic stimulus to the projects and investments of companies with Spanish interests that do business in Mexico. The loans to be granted can also be financed in local currency, both for investment and liquidity purposes.
Projects intended for the green and digital transition
Likewise, the agreement reached between ICO and Banco Sabadell Mexico fosters the financial support underpinning projects with a sustainability component, in accordance with the role played by the Institute at the European level as a developer of sustainable finance and in compliance with the Institute's economic policy objectives set out in the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. So far, more than 32% of the financing granted by ICO to Sabadell Mexico meets the parameters of sustainable projects, thanks to its contribution to climate change mitigation.
In addition, ICO will channel financial resources to promote the digitisation of the target companies and support technological initiatives as one of the main vectors for promoting competitiveness, innovation, sustainable economic growth and job creation. With this, ICO maintains its backing of the SME Digitalisation Plan 2021-2025.
ICO - Sabadell: a long-standing, enduring relationship
To date, ICO and Banco Sabadell Mexico have signed four financing agreements, which strengthens the public-private partnership between the two entities and bolsters the financial support for companies linked to Spain in the Mexican Republic.
Through the three previous agreements also framed within the ICO International Channel Line, a total of 50 projects belonging to different activity sectors have been financed: production/distribution of electricity, gas and water, hotels and restaurants, construction, transport and storage, food industry, communications and artistic activities and other manufacturing industries.
This is the ninth agreement that ICO has reached with the Sabadell Group; both entities have close ties under the International Channel Line, which has led to the signing of agreements with other entities of the group, such as Sabadell Miami and Sabadell Casablanca, which enhances support for companies with Spanish interest in countries in LatAm, USA and Morocco.
