Maria Gutiérrez Urtiaga

María Gutiérrez Urtiaga is Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting at the Carlos III University of Madrid. After graduating in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Valladolid, she obtained a Master's degree in Economics and Finance from the Centre for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI) and a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University.
Her research and teaching interests focus on corporate governance, corporate finance and economic analysis of financial regulation, having published her research articles in national and international journals. She is currently a research associate at the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), a member of the Academic Council of the European Banking Institute (EBI) and a member of the Economist Expert Group of the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
She has also been a member of the CNMV Advisory Committee and President of the Spanish Finance Association (AEFIN).
