ICO participates in various funds destined to finance investments in sectors and activities of special interest for the Spanish Economy.
Fondo de Carbono para la Empresa Española (FC2E)
The Fondo de Carbono para la Empresa Española (FC2E), promoted by the Instituto de Crédito Oficial and the Santander Group, is the first mixed capital Carbon Credit Fund to be managed in Spain. FC2E was created to help Spanish companies comply with greenhouse gas emissions regulations during the 2008-2012 compliance period.
To achieve this objective, the Fondo de Carbono para la Empresa Española supports clean projects carried out in emerging countries under the mechanisms established in the Kyoto Protocol, i.e., the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) by buying the carbon credits generated by these projects (CERs and ERUs).

Fons Mediterrània Capital is a Venture Capital Fund with a general and diversified investment mission, carrying out investment operations in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.
The Marguerite Fund is a European capital fund, created with the objective of backing investments in infrastructures that contribute to the fight against climate change, energy security and Trans-European Transport Networks.
The Marguerite Fund is managed by an independent team in charge of identifying and evaluating potential investments focused on the following sectors:
- Transport: especially the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T)
- Energy: paying special attention to the Trans-European Energy Networks (TEN-E)
- Renewable Energies: including the production of sustainable energy, clean transport infrastructures, energy distribution and systems for hybrid, geothermal, biomass, biogas, hydraulic energy transport and projects for converting waste into energy.
